Easy Kid Valentine Recipes

I found these two easy valentine recipes for kids on kidscraftmagazine.com

Cornflake Hearts

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup butter
• 3 cups miniature marshmallows
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp red or pink food coloring
• 4 cups corn flakes
• Small heart candies (like the ones you find for decorating cupcakes in the baking isle).
• Wax paper

Directions:

1. Melt butter, add marshmallows, stirring until all marshmallows are melted.

2. Add extract and food coloring. Stir until it is a uniform red or pink color.

3. When mixture is smooth, add corn flakes. Mix well, but gently so as not to crush the cornflakes. Let the mixture cool enough so that you can handle it, but not too much or you won’t be able to shape it.

4. Form into heart shapes on sheets of waxed paper, decorate with candy hearts. Let cool.

Krispie Kisses

You’ll need a batch of the basic recipe (below) and a very small funnel.

1. Make a batch of rice krispie treats and let it cool slightly so that you can handle it.

2. Butter the inside of the funnel.

3. Using your hands, pack the rice krispie treats into the funnel, then turn it over onto a cookie sheet to cool.

Variations

There are a couple of variations on this basic recipe.

1. You can dip your kisses in chocolate to make a more traditional kiss, but it is messy.

2. You can use a spoon to drizzle chocolate over the kiss.

3. You can make them with love messages inside, similar to the little kisses. Just write a message on a strip of paper, string it through the small end of the funnel so that only part of it will be inside the kiss, and then pack the cereal mixture inside the funnel.Here’s the basic recipe

Ingredients: 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows, 6 cups rice krispies cereal

Directions: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt margarine and marshmallows on HIGH for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir mixture until smooth. Add rice krispies cereal, stirring until well coated. When slightly cooled, shape cereal mixture into desired shape using buttered hands, or lay out flat on waxed paper. Allow to cool.

Vinyl Lettering Frame

This Tuesday's Tutorial is a really cute idea. My sister gave me this idea that she had done. Mine did not turn out as good as hers but it is stilll a greally cute idea and I am sure that all you crafty people out there can put your own cute creative spins on it.

1. Take a regular frame and take the back off of it and then adhere the glass to the frame. I just used this Crafter's Pick glue because it dries clear.

2. Then take your vinyl lettering and you adhere it to the inside of the frame. Of course, my cricut machine that I have does not print the letters backwards, so I had to put my letters on the front.

Chicken Broccoli Divan

Chicken Broccoli Divan
From: Campbell's Kitchen
Prep: 10 minutesBake: 20 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:
4 cups cooked broccoli flowerets

1 1/2 cups cubed cooked chicken

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)

1/3 cup milk

1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

2 tbsp. dry bread crumbs

1 tbsp. butter, melted

Directions:
Heat the oven to 450°F. Place the broccoli and chicken into a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
Stir the soup and milk in a small bowl. Pour the soup mixture over the broccoli and chicken. Sprinkle with the cheese. Stir the bread crumbs and butter in a small bowl. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the cheese.

Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread crumbs are golden brown.
Tip: You can use leftover cooked turkey instead of the chicken in this recipe.
Serving Suggestion: Serve brown rice and a simple tomato salad: tomato wedges with chopped fresh basil and red wine vinaigrette on Romaine lettuce cups. For dessert serve apple crisp.

Bean Bags and Crayon Rolls

I really love making these crayon rolls. They are super easy to make and my kids love them. They are great to just put in the diaper bag and have with me to help keep my kids busy. Love this craft!! I got the instructions on how to make a crayon roll at Skip to my Lou.



Every Saturday, my kids and I go to the family storytime at the library. And they sing this bean bag song that my kids really enjoy. During the song, you are suppose to put the bean bag on parts of your body, like elbow, foot, or head, etc. And then throw it up in the air and catch it. Well, I thought that since this keeps them so entertained at the library, I should make them some bean bags to play with at home. And they are easy to make. I made two in 5 minutes.


My daughters were so excited about these bean bags that I made. They have been carrying them around and playing with them nonstop. They even slept with their bean bags!First, cut two squares out of fabric (scrap fabric works great for this).
Then put right sides together and sew all around, leaving an opening to turn in the right way. Flip it to the right side.
Fill with rice, beans, or whatever. I used rice.
Then handsew the opening closed. I was a little lazy with this step and just used my sewing machine to sew it closed. And done!
